And so it begins.

Okay, well, G-Dub's been pestering me to work on his blog. gonna do that by giving a little history to him and then detail his first adventure:.

To start, G-Dub technically stands for "Gay Wahlberg", though it's short for "Gay!Donnie". Yeah. fifty million New Kids on the block dolls manufactured, and I get the only homosexual one of the lot. Which suits me fine. :) I was born a homo honey, this is nothing new.

Anyway, G-Dub was given to me as a gift from my friend Ches back in September 2002. I was living in Columbus OH at the time and hung out in the gay district a lot. (Not that I'm gay myself, but that's also where all the best coffee shops and art galleries were. Not to mention Union Station. Showtunes Night anyone? :D) Anyway, Ches was one of the regulars and every Saturday morning he'd get up at insane hours to hit a nearby flea market. So he comes into Union while my friends and I are chilling, and presents me with this NKOTB doll mint in package, announcing that he saw it and HAD to get it for me cos it's just SO 80s. I played it down well. I casually thanked him and told him that technically New Kids was 90s.....and managed somehow to wait until I got home before squealing like a 12 year old and tearing open the box. Granted, I had New Kids dolls when I was younger, but this little fellow was already special to me...he'd been given to me by a friend. So he earned a place of honour pretty quick: hanging from the mardi gras beads on my dresser.

From then until about 2008, there he stayed and over time he became more and more festooned with shiny things and Pride stuff, since my pals and I would go to the annual Pride parade and come home with more stuff like beads, Pride flags, rainbow dogtags and bracelets... Donnie would always wind up sporting them all, and thus he became jokingly dubbed, "Gay!Donnie".

2008 was the turning point, however. That year the New Kids on the Block reunited and announced a new tour. My BFF and I decided to go to the Cleveland show, and of course I decided to bring a certain little Diva along for laughs. Well, by the end of the concert, G-Dub had gone from inside joke to irreplaceable treasure. The concert was a wonderful emotional ride, not to mention a true bonding moment for my friend and I...and G-Dub was there for all of it.

Since then, I've kept a sharp eye on the New Kids, and as such, G-Dub's become my little partner in crime. He's gone with me to more concerts and events, and since moving back to Toronto, has tagged along on more than one adventure in the city. :) Which is where this blog turns...to show all the adventures G-Dub's gotten himself into!

That said...onto the photos, and the stories behind them!
